My name is Alev and I’ve been with the company for 23 years.
After graduating from high school and doing my apprenticeship as a wholesale and export assistant, I started working for CREMER ERZKONTOR, and I’m now a Senior Product Manager in the Minerals Division.
I was born in Lübeck and have always lived in the area. I really enjoy my work – in fact I think I’m a workaholic :-). But I never neglect my family or my hobbies, either. I’m of Turkish descent and I have two daughters; my interests include dancing, baking, travelling ...
As a product manager, I get different requests from all the regions every day. My challenge is to ensure that we receive as many orders as possible and generate sales.
I like the variety and I enjoy working on complex tasks, too. We’re a service provider for our customers. Sometimes we have to solve problems and not everyone is always in a good mood. This can result in the odd conflict here and there, of course. But I don’t get bent out of shape anymore: I’ve become more relaxed over the years. In the end, most things can be solved somehow – working as a team in constructive and open dialog, or if you simply take a night to sleep over a problem.
The job also allows me to travel a lot to meet customers and suppliers, attend global trade fairs and conferences, or make warehouse visits and be present at ship unloadings.
I like working and I find my job very enjoyable. I can’t imagine just sitting around at home. I look forward to my work and to the people I work with. You have to love what you do. That’s the only way you can be successful.
