Lübeck, February 2026 – CREMER ERZKONTOR GmbH will close its mineral grinding plant Wesel. The decision affects 36 employees.

In recent years, the company has worked intensively to stabilize the site and maintain it in the long term. Despite numerous measures, the economic conditions have continued to deteriorate. A critical element is the site’s significant reliance on the chemical industry, which has faced economic challenges for quite some time and has experienced increased strain over the last year.

After carefully weighing all options, the company has come to the conclusion that continuing to operate the plant under the current conditions is no longer economically viable.

The company will centralize its processing activities in Europe at the mineral grinding plant in Hamm to sustainably enhance the business’s competitiveness and ensure its long-term viability.

The focus is now on managing the transition responsibly. The impacted employees are receiving attentive assistance, and dialogues with employee representatives are happening in a positive and respectful way.
